City Quick Facts:
* The town site was purchased in 1881 by F.M. Mansfield, a Hartville attorney and George H. Nettleton, a Kansas City railroad surveyor.
* In 1894, Laura Ingalls Wilder, along with her husband, Almanzo Wilder, and their daughter Rose Wilder Lane moved from South Dakota to Mansfield.
